The majority of Mauritanians who have used police or public educational services in the past 12 months report that it was easy to access what they needed, unlike those who tried to obtain an identity document, according to the results of the Afrobarometer survey.
Many respondents who experienced these public services mentioned having to pay bribes.
Regarding access to electricity, only half of Mauritanians say they are connected to the public electricity grid.
In the eyes of the citizens, education and health are the two most important issues the government should address, followed by poverty.
